Belfry Advisory Panel

The Central Committee appoints members of the Belfry Advisory Panel. The panel members are volunteers and they will offer advice on bells and their installations in towers. Please contact the Convenor to discuss and arrange a visit to the tower.
Advice could include the condition of bells and their installation, requirements for maintenance or restoration, or the addition of bells. Panel members may also be able to advise on the installation of aids for teaching bell handling such as simulators and dumb-bells.
Recommendations may also concern for example, access to and security of the tower, lighting in the tower, prevention of vermin and ingress of damp, lightning protection, sound and noise control both within the tower for ringers and externally for neighbours.
During tower visits, panel members will normally accompany a member of the church who is responsible for the tower and bells, with appropriate consideration of health and safety policies and risk assessments. For some work, Panel Members may advise that the enquirer consults other specialists or professional contractors.
