2009 Events followed a similar pattern to previous years, with a Quiz at Beoley, won by a Rowley Regis team; Skittles at Wolverley (well supported but a disappointing venue); Walk & Picnic at Halesowen and an Advent Carol Service at Kingswinford. A very successful Branch Outing took place in October to Nottingham City and three nearby towers.
Branch meetings were held at Clent, Pensnett and Hartlebury. The Branch Committee is keen to encourage greater attendance at meetings as this has been disappointing on occasions. The Association AGM was also held in the branch - at Stourbridge.
A new Branch Ringing Master, Andrew Gray, took office in September. We thank the retiring Master, Paul Marshall, for his ten years in office: he has now taken on the duty of Training Officer. 31 New members were elected during the year, a higher number than usual, and we hope that they will all continue as members in the long term.
A full programme of branch and advanced practices were held, with additional Bristol Surprise Major practices. These practices are intended to help all levels of ability, so all members are encouraged to attend. Three training events were organised by Paul Marshall – Plain Bob Doubles and Triples at Rowley, PB Doubles at Upper Arley and Stedman at Kinver.
The Branch Striking Competition was held at Wollaston in March, with Alvechurch taking the call change trophy and Bewdley winning the method competition. At the Inter-Branch Competition at Pebworth in October the Northern Branch were successful in the 6-bell section.
