Business meetings were held at Malvern Link, Martley and All Saints, Worcester. Attendance was 26, 28 & 27. This was slightly up on 2008, but well down on previous years. Only 9 new members were elected; continuing that steady decline.
In May, some 30 members visited Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire. There was good weather, nice bells and beautiful countryside which made an enjoyable day out for everyone.
In July it was time for the striking competition which was held at Claines. It was an evening event instead of the usual afternoon one, but didn’t seem to affect numbers of ringers taking part. Three of the five bands also entered the fall and rise. Claines won both with Powick 2nd.
Well done to our teams who won the 8 and 10 bell inter-branch striking competition at Pebworth in October. Methods were Double Norwich Court Bob Major and Grandsire Caters.
The Carol night was held at Upton Snodsbury. Just over 30 attended which was double last years number. The service, which followed the general ringing consisted of carols and lessons and a performance from the local handbell team. The refreshments after the service were very much appreciated, with thanks to Janet Russell for making the arrangements.
A couple of practices were organised by the Master; special methods included Stedman and Double Norwich.
If you didn’t attend any or many of these events, please do try to take part during 2010. They are organised with everyone in mind.
