Many pages show the date of their last modification and a link to this page which contains the contact details for the web keeper. The dates on the page will correspond with entries in a list of changes kept on file for tracking purposes.
To enable these pages to be useful to members of the W&DCRA as well as other ringers who may be visiting the area it is important that the information is kept up to date. Your help in contributing to the notes topic such information regarding amenities in the local area would be greatly appreciated.
Visitors can be annoyed if they turn up for practice nights published on pages such as these, Dove's Guide or Tower Base only to wait around and discover there is no practice. Please let me know of any changes to practice nights especially if you practice only on certain weeks.
All the tower pages are generated from a common template. Each topic is discussed in the order in which it appears.
Church Photograph
The photographs featured on this site were taken when the site was created in 2000. Offers to replace the not so good photographs are welcomed. You must be prepared to allow the picture to be used free of any copyright. The association has no control over other people using our pictures.
Ringing Information
If any of the information regarding ringing times for practices or services is incorrect, please inform the web keeper. This includes periods of temporary suspension for things such as building work. Unfortunately the odd week without ringing cannot be handled, as the site is usually updated monthly. The number of bells shown are those that form a diatonic ring. ( extra Flats and Sharps are not included) Please note: Information is not passed to Dove's guide by the WDCRA as Dove wish to know the source of every change.
Notes
This optional section relies on the tower providing the web keeper with information. It is suggested this topic should contain information about parking, location of tower door, special arrangements for access on practice nights such as intercoms, doors locked at certain times. Types of staircase or ground floor ringing can influence visitors, vertical ladders can be very unpopular.
It is assumed that if someone arranges for a party to grab your tower, you will directly make the access arrangements with them. The notes topic could include things that might interest visitors, such as toilet location ( if any ) Pubs serving food. Cafe's, Tea Rooms, Any attractions in the vicinity that might suit non ringers in a visiting party. As detailed information about the bells may be found elsewhere on the web these and subjective comments should be avoided here.
Tower Correspondent
The tower page purposely does not include the correspondent's address. These may be found in the Annual Report, in both the paper and online version. If the correspondent changes, please inform both the branch secretary and the web keeper.
Any suggestions for other content matter on the website would be very welcome. Be prepared to be asked to supply the information and I will convert it in to a web page.
